His new ‘I NEVER LIKED U’ album is further evidence that his artistic identity is broad and complex. The title comes off like a juvenile text response to being left on read. But it’s also a defensive phrase, a means of shielding true emotions. Future gets away with minimal interviews and a furtive social media presence because he wisely builds a gripping mythology into his music...and because he’s so damn prolific. So who is he? Check the music for answers. The 20-plus albums he’s made in a decade are diary entries, and like any autobiography the lines between truth and fiction get blurry.
